Instead of buying a new tripod, an RRS tripod owner can convert an existing system into a shorter tripod while removing the extra weight of the unused leg sections—ideal for backcountry enthusiasts who are counting every gram and optimizing their setup for the mission.

When full standing height isn’t required, Leg Conversion Caps allow you to remove the extra leg sections you won’t use—reducing carried weight and shortening stowed length. This makes the setup especially valuable for backcountry users who want the stability of a full-size RRS tripod, but prefer a lighter, more compact carry for specific terrain, stalks, or movement plans.

Conversion caps support mission-driven flexibility by letting you choose which leg sections are shortened—so you’re only carrying the length you need.
